Cal Fire Quickly Extinguishes Small Wildland Blaze on Bear Creek Road

About 20 firefighting personnel help put out quarter-acre wildland blaze Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a wildland fire Tuesday afternoon near the David Bruce and Byington wineries in the Los Gatos Mountains.

According to Loma Prieta Fire and Rescue of Santa Cruz County Fire Department Capt. Alex Leman, about a quarter of an acre burned on Bear Creek Road shortly before 12:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire, which was moving up the hill toward the vineyards, is under investigation, Leman said.

A total of 20 firefighting personnel, including a hand crew, helped put the fire out quickly with the help of a water tender.

No structures were threatened, Leman said.
