Arrest No. 1 Logged At New Levi's Stadium
An alleged trespasser, wanted on a warrant, was the first arrest made at the facility.
A man detained last Monday at the Levi's Stadium became the first person arrested at the new $1.3 billion home of the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, a police official said today.
Santa Clara police answered a call at 6:45 a.m. on July 14 about a trespasser somewhere on stadium property at 4900 Marie P. DeBartolo Way off of Tasman Drive, police Lt. Kurt Clarke said.
Officers contacted the suspect, 51-year-old Eric Johnson, of Watsonville, and soon found out the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office had a warrant out for his arrest for resisting arrest and vandalism, police said.
Police arrested Johnson on the warrant and brought him to the Santa Clara County Main Jail, where he was held on $5,000 bail while awaiting transfer to San Mateo County, according to Clark.
The arrest was the first recorded at Levi's Stadium, Clarke said.
Police do not know what Johnson was doing there, he said. Levi's Stadium held its opening ceremony last Thursday.
The 49ers play the team's first NFL game there on Aug. 17, a preseason contest against the Denver Broncos.
