Accident Leaves Thousands Without Power

Car wreck knocks out electricity for 3,500 customers in Saratoga, Campbell and San Jose

A power outage caused by a car accident left about 3,500 PG&E customers in Santa Clara County without power this morning, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

The outage started shortly after 5:30 a.m. today when a car hit a utility pole.

The resulting outage affected customers in Saratoga, Campbell and San Jose, said PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris.

Shortly after 7 a.m. PG&E repair crews had restored power to all but 300 customers.

The Santa Clara Fire Department alerted PG&E to the accident, Morris said.
