Update: 3 Arrested for DUI During Los Gatos St. Patrick's Day Weekend

One woman and two men are facing drunken-driving violations for exceeding the blood alcohol level content limit of 0.08 percent.

Updated: 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 19: The number of St. Patrick's Day weekend DUI arrests in Los Gatos went down by one this year, with three drunken-driving citations issued this past weekend compared to four last year, said Los Gatos Monte Sereno police Sgt. spokesman Stephen Walpole.

Three people were arrested in Los Gatos on suspicion of DUI during this past St. Patrick's Day weekend.

In the first incident, Christine Yang, 25, was arrested at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, March 15 on Saratoga-Los Gatos Road and Daves Avenue after her vehicle was observed traveling at about 50 mph in excess of the posted 35 mph zone, police said.

The woman was driving her vehicle despite it having a deflated right rear tire, according to police.

In the second incident, John Williams Balmonte, 43, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at University Avenue and W. Main Street on suspicion of DUI.

In the third incident, Miguel Antonio Salazar, 44, was arrested at 1:06 a.m. Monday, March 18 at 15011 Los Gatos Blvd. on suspicion of DUI.

The Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department joined other area law enforcement agencies in this past weekend's heavy police crackdown on drunken driving which began at 12:01 a.m. Friday, March 15 and continued until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 17, St. Patrick's Day.
