Mountain View: A Hotbed for Rich Singles?

A new Money magazine survey says that Mountain View is one of the nation’s best cities to live in if you’re rich and single.

You can never be too rich or too thin. So says the old adage.

But what about being rich and single? If that describes you, Mountain View is where you should be; at least according to the editors at Money magazine.

In its latest numbers-crunching survey, the magazine ranks Mountain View as the tenth best city in the country in which to be rich and single, right above Evanston, Ill.

Say, what?

The magazine insists it’s true and they have the numbers to prove it.

In its survey, Money reports that out of Mountain View’s population of 76,036, a whopping 34.9 percent of the city’s residents are single. Combine that with the city’s median income of $109,129 and the city, at least on paper, looks like a paradise for the caviar and solo set.

To further make their point, Money says that “you can’t swing a dead circuit board without hitting a tech billionaire in Mountain View.”

Okay. But wait. Do those numbers include the thousands of school-age children who live in Mountain View? They are single, and we’re betting that most of them aren’t rich on their own. We’d also suggest that most of them are unemployed.

Did the numbers-crunchers at Money take those kids into consideration? It doesn’t look like they did.

Perhaps those guys should let up on crunching numbers and instead concentrate on crunching their abs. That might not make them rich, but it surely will help them to stay thin.

Maybe they live in Mt. View and play or party in Palo Alto, Sabta Cruz or San Fransisco. Mt. view is very beautiful place. Castro Street is like a walk down a venue of "excellent eateries, quaint & contemporary shops and courteous people"..I visit there frequently and live in Philly. The singles are online, on route and on the money...

A place for a lot of fun, and to meet singles, is Shoreline Billiards. It's not cheap to play pool, so these folks definitely have a good amount of disposable income....

enough of this business. it was something to grow up in this area when people were more down to earth, to say the least. maybe look at the derelicts around and ask them if they are disguised millionaires. give people a break. meet someone who you are attracted to and take it from there. for goodness sake!
