The Public Schools Accountability Act of 1999 established the Academic Performance Index as part of a state accountability system.
The API is a numeric index between 200 and 1000 which reflects schoolwide and district-wide performance on tests in the Standardized Testing and Reporting program and the California High School Exit Exam.
The State Board of Education has established an API score of 800 as the target to which all schools should aspire.
Included in the key findings from the Santa Clara County Office of Education 2012 Growth API results: Los Altos Elementary School District, Saratoga Union Elementary School District and Lakeside Joint School District have the highest 2012 Growth API (968, 968, and 966 respectively).
These results reflect the hard work of our students, teachers, classified staff and parent community. Well done! Lakeside is a jewel in the Los Gatos Mountains!
