Obituary: Beloved Los Gatos Friend Heather Mander Dies

Heather Mander, born Aug. 13, 1923, was a wife, mother, grandmother, friend to many. She died at the age of 90.

A longtime resident of Los Gatos, Heather lived the last five years with her husband of 37 years, Daniel Mander, in Rancho Murieta, California, to be close to her family: daughter and son-in-law Vicki and John O’Shaughnessy, grandson Andrew Greene and great granddaughter Kartika Greene.

In 1939, Heather left Oklahoma with her new husband, Loyd “Pete” Nixon and settled in Southern California working hard at many odd jobs to build a better life in California.

The two of them successfully each started their own businesses and raised a family of three children, Dennis (Rusty), Gary and Vicki.

Heather received her cosmetology license and subsequently owned two beauty salons, the first in Fresno, the second in Los Gatos. 

Heather married Daniel Mander in 1976 and lived happily in the Los Gatos area until 2008.

She became a real estate agent for several years and subsequently retired and enjoyed her family and friends.

Heather was a dynamic, enthusiastic and loving individual who will long be remembered by those who knew her.  

Besides Daniel, Vicki, John, Andrew and Kartika, Heather is survived by her grandchildren Tony Nixon, Michelle Enscoe, Kelly Molloy, Kim Taylor, Darren Nixon, Tim Greene, Jeff Nixon, and Michelle Morgan along with 11 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her sons Rusty and Gary, her six siblings and her parents Floyd and Alpha Pride.         

Heather's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at the Rancho Murieta Community Church at 14670 Cantova Way, Rancho Murieta, Ca. 95683.

Immediately following the service will be a reception at Rancho Murieta Village, 14751 Poncho Conde Circle, Rancho Murieta, Ca. 95683.
