Los Gatos Death Notices: Gary Trovinger, Spencer Kenneth Anderson

Some of the people with ties to Los Gatos and the West Valley who passed away recently.

Gary Frederic Trovinger, a resident of Los Gatos, died recently at age 57. He graduated San Jose State University with a bachelor of science degree in aeronautics. He served as a pilot with Alaska Airlines for 29 years. Gary also created and operated "Scatterings," a service for the airborne release of cremated remains. He was truly kind and had a zest for life with a memorable laugh. Gary was a loving husband, devoted father and son. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Linda, daughters Megan and Amy (Kris Heath), parents Anne and Karl, brothers Eric (Sheree) and Steve (Sheri), sister in-law Cathy Weiner (Bruce), brother in-law David Loew (Fran) and many nieces and nephews. His tragic accidental death was a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Please honor his memory by protecting yourself and your family by installing a CO detector in your home as soon as possible. Donations to Loew Vision Rehabilitation Institute are appreciated. Services have been held.

Spencer Kenneth "Swede" Anderson, a resident of Los Gatos, died peacefully on Oct. 14, 2013 after a short illness. He was 81. Swede was born Feb. 13, 1932. He's survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor "Elli" and three beautiful daughters - Kim (Mike) Short, Kelly Anderson, and Kristi (Steve) Lambert - and five grandchildren: Mary Kate Short, Thomas Short, Kevin Short, Owen Lambert, and Jack Lambert. He is also survived by his brother, Tom, and several nieces and nephews. Spencer attended Sequoia High School and graduated from San Jose State University with degrees in engineering and business. He was employed by Lockheed, ITT and Philco-Ford. He and Elli pursued their love of travel in retirement. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 30 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 15885 Los Gatos-Almaden Rd., in Los Gatos. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Special Olympics of Santa Clara County or the charity of your choice.
