Flubber is awesome! It’s stretchy, bouncy, cold and you can mold it just like play dough. Making Flubber gives you a great opportunity to let your child play scientist, and what better way to teach them a little chemistry than by having them mix up all the ingredients? Then, you can show them all the fun and unusual things that you can do with Flubber.

Flubber is very easy and quick to make. Here is what to do:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of water and 1 ½ cups of Elmers glue.
  • Add a squirt of liquid watercolor and then stir it up.
  • In a separate medium-sized bowl, mix together 2 cups of water and 3 tablespoons of Borax.
  • After it is completely dissolved, slowly pour half of the Borax mixture in with the glue and water mixture a little at a time, taking  about 2 to 3 minutes (Note: you can save the other half of the Borax solution for a second batch of Flubber).
  • You can mix the solution with a wooden spoon or your hands, but it’s more fun to mix with your fingers! The mixture will be sticky at first, but it will slowly become a Flubber ball.

Now that you and your children have made Flubber to play with, what can they do with it?
