Did you get the call? (or text or email?) Last month, when a baby girl was abducted in San Jose during a vehicle theft, the Santa Clara County AlertSCC system sprang into action. Soon after the reported abduction, 308,368 phone, 67,467 email, and 22,780 text alerts were sent to Santa Clara County residents who signed up for AlertSCC, the free early notification system for local crime, emergencies, and disasters. Happily, the baby was found safe a few hours later thanks to a resident who spotted the missing vehicle and called 911. To sign up for AlertSCC, please visit the County’s website at: www.alertscc.org

Longtime Los Gatos resident Peter Carter passed away suddenly on March 6 at his home. For 29 years, Peter was my friend and neighbor, and he touched the lives of countless Santa Clara County residents both in person and through his photography. My sincere condolences go out to his widow Dennise, his sons and their many friends. Services for Peter will be held at Mission Church at Santa Clara University at 11 a.m. April 6.

As always, you can reach my office at 408-299-5010 with your comments and concerns.
