What Could Lady Gaga Teach Me?

Think about it. Do you have as much fun at work as Lady Gaga? Probably not. If not, why not?

The answer is simple: passion. Lady Gaga is passionate about what she does to earn her living (wish I had her money) and you may be working at something you have no real passion for.

If you have a passion for beading or surfing or whatever, wouldn’t it make more sense to apply your skills in that area? Of course! So quit your job! I kid, I kid. I just want to make the point that following a passion may be fruitful spiritually, financially, etc.

What I learned from Lady Gaga is that I work in a business that I am passionate about.   Sometimes, it just doesn’t feel like it, though, especially when those I collaborate with don’t share the feeling.

A friend of mine, a graduate of Wharton's business school, decided to give up the corporate world for a new job. Her passion? She started Frances Marie Photography (a number of derivatives are sure to follow.)

Yesterday, the economic news was hammering the point that we are still struggling to meet our great expectations of 2009. They may never be met, so don’t wait anymore. Get inspired. Make a change! One based on a passion you hold dear to your heart, like Frances did.  

Am I too touchy-feely, or what? I don’t know what has gotten into me. (Big toothy grin.)
