Something's Coming ... Something Good

Jazz on the Plazz 2013, A Gershwin Summer, begins June 26 with Catherine Russell.

Cold mornings and cloudy skies can only mean one thing: Los Gatos Music & Arts Jazz on the Plazz is just around the corner. Alright, let's say, just up the street.

Either way, Jazz is coming and it is going to be spectacular.

We begin our second decade, in June, with a new theme and a terrific lineup. We're calling it, "A Gershwin Summer" and, each week, our artists will pay a musical tribute to George and Ira.

Speaking of artists, I honestly believe that this year's group of performers is as good as we've ever presented and that's saying something.

I'm delighted that the great Mary Wilson (yes, the Mary Wilson of The Supremes) will be joining us in July as our Jazz Legend Honoree. She will also be headlining our annual Gala at La Estancia, where the elite meet to eat. But, as they say, wait there's more.

This year marks the return of the wonderful John Proulx along with a young vocalist, Halie Loren who, I promise you, will steal your heart.

Plus we're closing the season with the hottest jazz singer in France ... c'est magnifique. In fact, if you can't wait for opening night, may I suggest that you Google these folks and give a listen. You're gonna like what you hear.

So here you go dear friends, Jazz on the Plazz 2013.

To paraphrase Ol' Blue Eyes, "It's going to be a very good year."

Oh, and while I presumably still have your attention, it just doesn't seem right not to say, "show me the money." Seriously, if you have a couple of ducats you could pass our way, it would be much appreciated.

If you own a business and would like to sponsor one concert or the entire season, give me a call. If you're a patron and you like what we do, buy a reserve seat, or a jazz card (the new one will be out in late May), come to The Gala, participate in our weekly raffle or just make a donation.

Remember, we don't just throw the best party in town, we throw the best party in town for a good cause. As Los Gatos Music & Arts we fund arts scholarships and education programs for kids in our community.

See you in June.

What a line-up!! And I love the idea of a Gershwin theme for the season. I can't wait for the first concert to begin, nor can I wait for Gala tickets. When will they be available for sale? I wouldn't want to miss this year's event which is sure to be sold out quickly. Looking forward to an awesome season of cool Jazz! Thank you Los Gatos Music and Arts!

Sheila, I owe an apology for providing not exact info in that sudden-spontanious interview. I wish I could attend most of the scheduled concerts. Love music!
