So here’s the deal, our big fundraising gala for which sponsors our popular Jazz on the Plazz concert series, is two weeks from tonight.
If you’ve ever gone, you know that it is a very special evening for a very special cause … us. Seriously, we need to sell some more tickets.
And if you love jazz, you need to consider buying them. The great Barbara Morrison will be joining us, the auction items are terrific and the food and drink will be sublime.
It happens at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday July 24 at La Estancia, 18000 Overlook Rd., far and away one of the hippest homes in Los Gatos.
For more information and to purchase tickets please visit our website.
If you choose not buy tickets or a Jazz Card, or if you decide to pass on making a donation this summer, will jazz on the plazz still happen? Of course it will. Will it be as good? Well, there’s the rub.
As free music series go, we’ve set a pretty high standard. Thanks to you and our sponsors (the folks who have already gone the extra mile) we have been fortunate enough to be able to afford to bring some of the finest players in the world to our town.
Even as I type this plea, I’m negotiating with the great Michael Feinstein for next year. If fact, because so many of you asked, I’ve already contacted John Proulx to return in 2013.
So it will happen … but I can’t make any promises as to who will be here.
What I can promise, is this. If you skip just one latte a week and one lunch a month, you can come to The Gala, buy a Jazz Card and ensure the continuation of one of this country’s premiere free music events.
Imagine what summer would be like, if in fact, the music did stop playing. Think about … I do everyday.
