Last Chance: Plein Air Art Show, Summer Concerts

Up and coming deadlines for a hugely popular art show taking place this week in Los Gatos and two free summer concerts this weekend. Enjoy!

The popular 2012 Los Gatos Plein Air art show and fundraiser began June 12 and continues through June 16 featuring noted artists Paul Kratter,Darrell Hill and Thomas Kitts. They are among 43 plein air artists participating in the event. A VIP reception is planned 7-10 p.m., Friday, June 15, at California Café, with each artist showing one favorite painting. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online by clicking here. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the event Saturday, June 16 at Los Gatos Town Plaza Park where the artists will sell their work, with 40 percent of the proceeds going to's Charitable Foundation, according to event co-chairwoman Carol Waitte. The 25th annual Music in the Park free summer outdoor concert series begins 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 17, in the Los Gatos Civic Center Lawn, 110 E. Main St., a fixture of the Los Gatos summer scene. The opening act is the popular Joe Sharino Band.

The third free Vasona Vibrations concert takes place 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 16, at Vasona Lake County Park, 333 Blossom Hill Road, on the lawn near the Ranger Office. Playing this Saturday will be Women With Strings Attached. The 10th annual music series is sponsored by the Santa Clara County Parks and South Bay Folks.
