8 Things to Do in Los Gatos This Weekend

Join the Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce organizations for a fun evening of social business networking at 5:30 p.m., tonight, Thursday Oct. 4 at West Valley College's new event center, 14000 Fruitvale Ave. Local restaurants, caterers, wineries and vineyards will generously provide food and drink for the event. Those attending are encouraged to bring their business cards, marketing and promotional materials to share and network with business owners and community leaders. Entry fee is $5. The Los Gatos Lions Club annual collection for its White Cane Days fundraiser begins today, Thursday, Oct. 4 and continues 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. The Lions raise money for sight-related services and they need your glasses to distribute to those in need. All proceeds go directly to services for sight such as the Santa Clara Valley Blind Center. Lions Club members will be at the two Safeway stores in Los Gatos, 470 No. Santa Cruz Ave. and 15549 Union Ave.; Nob Hill Foods, 15710 Los Gatos Blvd.; Lunardi's, 720 Blossom Hill Rd.; and Los Gatos Post Office, 101 So. Santa Cruz Ave., to collect donations and used eye glasses. Details: 408-356-1266.

CHICKS WITH STICKS

The Los Gatos High School field hockey team holds its annual "Chicks With Sticks" tri-tip steak dinner from Los Gatos Meats on the patio outside the home economics room in the science building 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. Other items on the menu include beans, salad, garlic bread, and Nothing Bundt Cakes desserts. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at the door, or by contacting LGFH@GatosGirl.com. Each year, more than 700 dinners are served. This is the sole fundraiser for the team and the community's support is appreciated.

MAGICAL GLASS PUMPKIN PATCH

The 10th annual Magical Glass Pumpkin Patch returns Oct. 5-7 on the front lawn of Los Gatos High School, 20 High School Court, where the public can enjoy hundreds of the beautiful globes and purchase them with proceeds benefiting arts programs at the high school. Several local artists will be represented such as Saratoga's Shelley Monfort. Viewing of the Patch, which is free, begins 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, then from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. Details: gwen.­mleong@­gmail.­com.

ST. MARY'S COUNTRY FAIR

St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Los Gatos, 219 Bean Ave., continues its free Country Fair Oct. 5-7. The event features fun family activities such as carnival rides, country shopping, dancing, food booths, Butler Rides, a talent show, entertainment and more. COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE

The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Community Garage Sale takes place 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6. To see a list of registered sales, click here. Printed Shopper's Guides are available for pick up at Town Hall, Los Gatos Library, LGS Adult Recreation Center, Monte Sereno City Hall, Los Gatos Whole Foods and Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company. Those who have donations, or left overs from their garage sale can donate their items to the Los Gatos Methodist Church and Goodwill of Silicon Valley to benefit Stop Hunger Now. Donation days will be held in the church's parking lot, 111 Church St., 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Details: 408-399-5770.
