5 Things You Should Know Today, Oct. 31

Happy Halloween and congratulations to the Wildcats on their 63-0 victory over the Los Altos Eagles Friday night.

1. Congratulations to the Wildcats who are back to success with a huge 63-0 victory over Los Altos Friday night at Helm Field. The 3-1-1 Cats are in third place in the De Anza Divsion, with just two games remaining in the regular season. The next game the Cats play is against the Falcons of Saratoga. Los Gatos hopes to erase the memory of last year's loss to the Falcons with a strong performance at home. Saratoga is 1-4-0 in league standings.

2. will be offering a scary good barbecue at its center, 4 New York Ave., 4-6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31. The goodies will include free burgers, Halloween games, Xbox death match, dance music and more. Bring your student ID for the free food and fun. Friends and family welcome. Drinks are $1. Details: aplaceforteens.org.

3. The San Jose Giants and Comcast join forces to bring the fifth free evening of trick-or-treating 4-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31 at Municipal Stadium, 588 East Alma Ave., San Jose. Bring the kids out for a night of safe family fun for Gigante's Halloween Party. Have your child's picture taken with Gigante and stop by the Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars activity booth. Details: 408-297-1435.

4. The deadline for spooky story contest is 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31. What better way to spend the weekend, then by using your imagination and coming up with a scary tale to enter in this fun challenge. If you are in grades 2 through 6, you can enter. First, second and third place stories win $25, $15 and $10 gift certificates, respectively. All others receive a $3 boo coupon for use in the store. Entries must have contestant's name, address, phone, school, teacher, grade and title of story. Drop off your entries at The Wooden Horse, attn: Spooky Story Contest, 796 Blossom Hill Rd.
