1954 Los Gatos Memorial Library

This facility was also known as the American Legion Building from 1954 to 1966.

The "new" library in the American Legion building opened in 1954 with 17,000 books.

Library Board members at the time were Ethel Kretsinger, John Baggerly, Fred Berryman, Leonora Ghetti, and Cecil Spotswood.

The Clarence Hamsher collection of historic town photographs was donated to the library that same year. Mr. Hamsher was a local banker with a love of Los Gatos history.
