Let’s talk about sunlight for a moment since we are smack dab in the middle of summer.
Sunlight from the sun or a sunbed plays an important role in the prevention of diseases including certain cancers according to many UV experts and medical doctors.
Dr. Zane Kime, in his book Sunlight (Pengrove, CA: World Health Publications, 1980), says the health promoting benefits of appropriate UV exposure is similar to those produced by physical exercise.
He adds that lack of sunlight impairs the natural defense mechanism of the body to all forms of stress, both physical and emotional.
Dr Michael Holick (The UV Advantage), a professor of medicine and dermatology, Boston University of Medicine, has concluded that brief exposure to sunshine, or its equivalent several times a week can save more lives than it harms.
A little sunshine in your daily routine all year round is advantageous and part of a healthy lifestyle.
