Los Gatos New Year's Eve Celebrations

Why Go: For its New Year's Eve celebration, which will also be its official grand opening, the newly re-opened restaurant will be featuring its slow smoked barbecue. Will Nichols will be on the piano playing jazz during dinner until 9 p.m. and Jacqueline Tuner and the Band will be playing rock from 9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.

Why Go: Whether you'll want a great steak or some fresh seafood, this restaurant is preparing a wonderful menu for its New Year's Eve celebration. Choices will include prime rib, grilled swordfish piccata and roasted vegetable ravioli. You can also order from the regular menu that includes crab cakes, prawn cocktails and pizza flat bread, starters of Caesar and pear gorgonzola salads and clam chowder and entrées of rack of lamb, steaks, lobster and halibut, sea bass, salmon and sole.

Why Go: The restaurant is offering two New Year's Eve party seatings. The first one is from 4-7 p.m., featuring a limited menu from its regular dinner menu. The second seating is from 8-10 p.m., with reservations only available for after 9:30 p.m. There are also options for those only wanting to enjoy the live band, which starts at 9 p.m., and for those wanting dinner and access to all the festivities. The band The Cruzers will play in the main dining room. Patrons will also receive party favors and hats.

Pricing: The late seating involves a three-course meal at a cost of $89 per person, plus tax, and a guaranteed seat until the New Year with a glass of champagne until 1 a.m.

Where/When: 140 South Santa Cruz Ave., 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31

Why Go: The celebration includes a live band with a four-course meal with wine pairing. The party will also include a champagne toast at 11:50 p.m. and favors.

Why Go: Kick off your New Year celebrations Italian style! This popular restaurant and bocce ball mecca is welcoming 2012 with the theme of "Midnight in Rome!" You'll enjoy Peroni and Prosecco specials all day, NCAA bowl games on TV, a balloon drop and champagne/cider toast at midnight, which will be 3 p.m. in Rome Los Gatos time. There will also be a raffle drawing and fun for the whole family. Reservations are encouraged.

Why Go: This is a highly rated establishment known for its excellent offering of contemporary cuisine with an impressive international wine list and innovative cocktails. Reservations are recommended.

Why Go: Restaurant will offer two New Year's Eve party seatings. Earlier seating is a regular lunch menu. Later seating begins at 5 p.m. and includes a pre fixe menu of small and main plates and dessert. If patrons are still dining at midnight, restaurant will offer complimentary champagne and a toast to the New Year. Reservations are recommended.

Why Go: The popular night club will be ringing in the new year Studio 54 style! It will be offering a champagne toast at midnight and most likely a balloon drop. The countdown will be seen on 13 plasma TVs and restaurant's own HD projectors. Master video mixer VJ One will get the crowd moving. Admission includes a four-course dinner. Reservations are encouraged.

Pricing: $60 per person. 

Where/When: 8 North Santa Cruz Ave., 12 noon-2 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 31 

Why Go: Regular bar service for anyone. Complimentary champagne offered at midnight.

Why Go: If you're looking for an elegant bar scene and nightclub experience, this is the place for you. Celebration will feature live music with "Sage." It will also include party favors, hats and noisemakers. There will also be a midnight balloon drop.

Pricing: $25 cover charge.

Where/When: 141½ No. Santa Cruz Ave., 10 a.m.-2 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 31

Why Go: Relaxed and quaint bar scene with friendly staff. No balloon drop. There will be a midnight toast with complimentary champagne.

Pricing: No cover charge. Drinks and cocktails vary in price from $6-$9.

Where/When: 303 No. Santa Cruz Ave., 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31

Why Go: If you want exquisite cuisine prepared by famous Executive Chef Ross Hanson, then this is your destination. Menu for both dinner seatings includes a five-course meal. Midnight toast with complimentary champagne is included and party favors.

Pricing: $90, extra $45 for wine pairing.

Why Go: Join this popular restaurant and Irish pub for New Year's Eve dancing, midnight champagne toast and party favors.
