Intero realtor George Saghafian has posted on the Nexdoor.com private social neighborhood network that a fund set up at Chase Bank to help a woman seriously injured in April during a two-car crash on the Los Gatos-San Jose border has garnered $14,552.39 in donations.
The woman was almost killed during the crash that sent one vehicle plowing into her living room at Leigh Avenue and Anne Way.
According to Saghafian, the money was turned over to the woman and her family on Monday, Sept. 9.
"I met with the victim's husband James Cross today. Our meeting was at Chase bank with Darren the personal banker (great guy) to turn over all of the funds collect for his wife and family. Susan Cross is slowly recovering from her multiple injuries and surgeries. Mr. Cross was very appreciative of everyone who participate, and had no idea how many great people lived in our neighborhood and beyond," he posted.
Saghafian thanked those who worked hard to help raise the funds. "This was a team effort and the credit goes to our community for pulling together to help one of our own," he wrote.
Residents who live near the Cross family also organized lemonade stands with the help of neighbor Virginia Jennings.
The teen drivers of the two BMWs involved in the crash have been charged with felony reckless driving.
