Los Gatos Girls Need Help to Serve in Guatemalan Orphanage

Local students need to raise $4,000 to pay for expenses related to their service trip through the International Volunteer HQ program.

Los Gatos resident Megan Johnson and two of her friends were raising money last year through the crowdfunding website GoFundMe.com to spend two weeks during their summer vacation doing service work at an orphanage in Guatemala.

So far they've raised $350, but their goal was $4,000.

On their GoFundMe website page, Johnson writes that the money will help them pay for their transportation and fees related to their service through the International Volunteer HQ program.

Each year, Johnson said, the program places thousands of volunteers in Third World countries to help the poor.
