Community Corner

United Way Day of Action

Day of Action is a nationwide call to action for people in the community and corporations to come together, in a highly visible way, to create lasting change in their community. For this year's Day of Action, Tuesday June 21, United Way Silicon Valley and Somos Mayfair are partnering to enhance the safety and health of the Mayfair neighborhood in East San Jose and we're inviting you to be a part of this change!

Join hundreds of volunteers who will come together to enhance the schools and surrounding neighborhoods, parks, and the community center in the Mayfair neighborhood.

We'll also be installing a permanent "Born Learning Trail" that helps build language and pre-literacy skills, motor skills, and school readiness in young children. The trail contains ten signs and stations with fun and meaningful activities that any adult can play with young children.  This will be a visible symbol of the community's commitment to young children and the first installed in Santa Clara County.
