Childhood Cancer Awareness Day In Los Gatos

Los Gatos High’s Gold Ribbon Childhood Cancer Awareness Club asked the Town Council to declare Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS DAY, and the council has agreed to present the proclamation to the club at the Sept. 4th town meeting.  We invite the businesses of Los Gatos to participate on Sept. 15th by donating a percentage of that one day’s proceeds (amount is decided by the business and is completely confidential to The Club and the public)  to Curesearch,  www.curesearch.org, one of the largest and most respected non-profits that promotes childhood cancer awareness and funding for childhood cancer research.  Curesearch rates 4 Stars (exceptional - Exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause) with Charity Navigator.

We also ask the community to support the businesses displaying our Gold Ribbon Poster for the event. The link for participating businesses will be posted by September 5th.  Here is the link to view the participating businesses.  This list will be updated daily.

The Club is also be currently selling luminaries to the community  for $5 that will be on display all along the walkway in front of Los Gatos High School from evening from dusk until 11:00pm. The money from the luminaria sales will be donated to Camp Okizu, www.okizu.org, a free cancer camp for children, their siblings, and families, and The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Intiative, www.sarcomahelp.org.   Please come by that evening to see the display!

Childhood cancer research receives less than 4% from organizations and events like American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.  Please help us find a cure.  If you are interested in having your business participate, PURCHASE LUMINARIAS, or help with this effort, please contact Lu Ann Flechsig at 408-206-3931, luannf@comcast.net
