Community Corner

Bandstand Boogie

The Los Gatos Community Foundation is hosting a new community music event called Bandstand Boogie to be held Saturday, September 3, Labor Day Weekend, in Oak Meadow Park at the historic Lyndon Bandstand from 2:00pm-10:00pm. The free event will present a full day and evening of live music performances by award winning artists. Proceeds from food, Beer/Wine sales, and Sponsorships will benefit the new Los Gatos Youth Sports Park Snack Shack.

“Many communities have been successful with the "Community Dance” concept and we felt Los Gatos could take the concept even further,” says Mary Tomasi-Dubois, chair person and LGCF Board Member, “hosting the event at one of Los Gatos beautiful parks, offering a full day of fantastic music, and then an evening of dancing under the stars, the environment will really provide attendees a wonderful experience - and proceeds from concessions benefit a community youth project in our town, which is the mission of the Los Gatos Community Foundation.”

The original concept came from Paul Kent, lead singer of The Houserockers, winners of the 2010 KFOX Radio Last Band Standing Contest. Paul wanted to give back to the community that supports him, so he teamed up with the Los Gatos Community Foundation and other performers in the area who are generously donating their time. They include: OTR - Classic Rock and R&B, 5606 - Pop Punk, James Robinson - Acoustic Fusion Solo Artist, and local favorite Neil Hogan - Acoustic Finger Picking Style.
