He also co-founded the Los Gatos Social Club. He was also a member of the SJSV Chamber and ChamberPAC for more than two decades.

Known as witty and worldly, Carter maintained that "wealth, power, influence and professional accomplishments may be worth pursuing, but ... friendships and relationships are what matter most."

Actively involved in local elections, Carter was respected for his political opinions, knowledge, advice and for promoting a broad spectrum of candidates.

"His utmost concern was to promote a strong and stable local economy that was jobs-producing so as to provide opportunity for all in our community," said ChamberPAC Chair Suzanne Salata of Garden City Construction.

The award will be promoted at ChamberPAC's upcoming annual barbecue, set for Thursday, Aug. 22, at San Jose History Park.
