Leigh High School Theater Department Presents "Bury the Dead" and "The Actor's Nightmare"

Leigh High School Theater Department is proud to present these two one-act plays which promise to be a special treat for local theater lovers.

"The Actor's Nightmare" by Christopher Durang

Inspired by the recurring, performance anxiety nightmare of an unprepared actor taking the stage without their lines or knowledge of the plot, The Actor’s Nightmare is a comedic journey with George, an accountant, who finds himself on an empty stage, not certain how he got there. Just a few moments ‘til curtain, he learns he’s the understudy, and tonight’s his big night.

"Bury the Dead" by Irwin Shaw

First staged in 1936 to great acclaim, Bury the Dead takes place during ‘the second year of the war that is to begin tomorrow night’. While a military burial detail goes about its sad duties, the dead soldiers shockingly begin to rise up, pleading not to be buried.  Word of their insurrection spreads rapidly - the dead will not yield so easily.  In a series of touching scenes the dead men talk with loved ones of the days of living, now lost forever.
