Only Eight More Days...

There are only eight more days of school left! It's an exciting time of the year, but also exhausting because of finals and other projects. How can I possibly make it through?

There are approximately eight more days of school left for the Los Gatos school districts.

In a little over a week, I will no longer need to wake up at 6 a.m., rush to school to secure a decent parking place or stay up until the early hours of the morning doing homework. In a little over a week, I will have all the time in the world to do whatever it is that I want to do.

You'd think that that's enough to keep me going, right? That this next week, which is overflowing with studying for finals, should be bearable with the knowledge that it will all be over soon. Not true! I only have eight more days of being a junior, but I am already feeling the effects of "senioritis."

I am going through a severe burnout. I am so tired of school and the work that comes with it. Most of my classes are either filled with review for my finals or projects that are given in place of a final. I have been cramming my brain with knowledge since September, and I don't think that it can take anymore information!

I know that it is important that I know this stuff, since I did take my classes to come away with some knowledge. But at this point, enough is enough! Junior year is never easy. It is busy, stressful, and overshadowed by the concept that this year has the biggest influence (academically) over whether or not you will get into that college of your dreams.

So here we are in the second week of June. The rain has helped distract from the fact that it is almost summer, but it hasn't stopped me from counting down the hours until noon on June 16.

Until then, I will try to survive the crazy last week of school.

I remember back when I was younger, when the last week of school meant a bunch of pool parties and a lot of fun. Now, the last week is just a long line of tests.

Some of these tests are not a big deal, others can mean the difference between an A and a B or a B and a C. I know that these finals are here to prepare me for college, where I have heard that my final can be the only grade I get for an entire class. Maybe then I will thank all of my teachers for making me spend my last days of school taking tests!

It's not just the finals that are causing me to burn out, though. It's just school in general - having to wake up early and sit through class for six hours every day. I need a break from the routine to relax and recharge my battery. Hopefully, this summer will be the relaxing break that I need it to be!
