When the new Templar Sports store opens its doors soon there may be more people waiting for them than customers.
A small grassroots group of Los Gatos mothers plans to be there Saturday to express its concerns about the store’s plans to sell guns.
“We are a small community of 30,000, but the idea that a store selling guns will be opening is beyond comprehension,” group organizer Shannon Susick wrote in an email to Patch on Friday.
The store at 611 University Ave. in downtown Los Gatos will serve the hunting, fishing, target sports, and law enforcement communities. Already some nearby residents have expressed concerns about the store and possible safety and security issues to the surrounding neighborhood.
Susick’s group, which formed Thursday night, includes three Los Gatos women with deep roots in the community who have attended local schools and raised children in town. They plan to be in front of the store at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to spread the word that they feel selling guns and ammunition in Los Gatos is inappropriate.
