1861 San Jose German Glee Club

A lasting image from more than 150 years ago is captured in this photograph of a daguerreotype, the first commercially successful photographic process.

This is a black-and-white photo of a daguerreotype, first commercially viable  photographic process.

The image was made in the camera on a silvered copper plate, and features the San Jose German Glee Club. It was taken in 1861 in Los Gatos close to Forbes Mill.
