Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Santa Clara County Offers Election Facts on the June 3 Primary

Election season is upon us, so the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Santa Clara Countywould like to share a few facts about voting opportunities and options.

The next election in Santa Clara County is the June 3 primary. The last day to register to vote in this election is May 19.

It’s important to make your voice heard no matter how you are going to vote. DSA members have learned over the years that if you don’t speak up, then someone else will speak for you, and likely not in a way you would want.

The Santa Clara County Registrar’s Office provides these choices to help registered voters cast ballots.

  • ·       Precinct voting – Vote on June 3 at a polling place near your home.
  • ·       Absentee ballot – Sign up for a vote-by-mail ballot.
  • ·       Early voting – The County Registrar has several dates and times available starting May 5.  Check the County Registrar website for a complete list.

To register or update your voter information in Santa Clara County, visit the County Registrar’s website. You may request a vote-by-mail ballot by visiting the County Registrar’s Office or by mail.

To help register voters and promote absentee ballots, the County Registrar provides personal information about registered voters to all registered campaigns.  This includes the voter’s name, date of birth, address and phone number.
Political strategists and non-profits commonly use this voter information to understand the makeup of the electorate and to encourage voter participation.

The California Elections Code authorizes and regulates how this information is used.
