Good Wishes for Suicidal Man

Police prevent suicide attempt last Wednesday evening on Blossom Hill Road bridge over Highway 17.

It was getting a bit late and I wanted to get my son home and into bed last Wednesday evening, May 25.

It was just around 8:30 p.m. and we were heading home after looking at several homes with a client.

We were tired and looking forward to getting comfy and relaxing a bit before going to bed. Instead, we found ourselves in traffic that slowed to a stop just as we were in view of our exit.

Then, when a police motorcycle passed on the right and another car on the left, I knew we would be there for a while. If the first responders were just responding, we would be in for at least a 10-minute wait. I turned off the car as we had been standing still since before the cars passed us.

It was getting dark and after about 20 minutes, traffic began to slowly inch forward. As we passed the law enforcement vehicles, we saw a long line of glowing red flares blocking off the left lane.

The flares disappeared and then another row appeared just as we approached the overpass at Lark Avenue. There was no sign of an accident, no road work activity, just the line of flares glowing in the darkness.

As soon as we passed beneath the overpass, the traffic opened up and we were on our way home.
