Updated: Woz' Former Los Gatos Home on the Market for $4.5 Million

Famous computer engineer is said to be planning a move to Australia or New Zealand seeking new adventures.

The former Los Gatos mansion of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, a.k.a. Woz, is on the market for $4.5 million.

Located at 300 Santa Rosa Drive, the 7,500 square foot, six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home sits on 1.19 acres in the Los Gatos Mountains, according to its real estate posting on the redfin.com website.

The listing, posted courtesy of Sothebys International Realty's Art Sharif, says the two-story modern/high tech/contemporary style house "combines post-modern style with majestic natural views.

"It is a natural abode full of light and warmth Euro chefs kitchen, wraparound terraces. Recent major re-design and renovation, indoor kids play area, pool w/ waterfall, Koi Pond."

The famous computer engineer and programmer, who founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne, is said to be planning a permanent move to Australia.

Correction: This story has been revised. An earlier version mistated Woz' ownership of this home. He's no longer the deed holder on this property. Everybody makes mistakes ... even us! I've always loved the Woz. He is a true institution and I'm sorry to see him leave our Los Gatos

Steve has been such a wonderful community member and his kids went to school here. He should keep the house here in case he ever wants to come back.:-) I am grateful for all he has done.

I don't know anything about Woz's current emigration plans but the home you reference hasn't belonged to him for over 8 years. The current owners listed it in February this year but that's obviously completely unrelated to his move.

Gail, I just sent the same comment to the website owners. I'm wondering if this is some attempt by the realtors to bring attention to a refurbished property that has been languishing on the market for about three or four years. My friends live near this address and know the Wozniak's, so I know the history of the property. It's weird that they have listed it as the residence of the Wozniaks.

Hi Gail and Rene, I'm trying to contact the realtor to find out if the Woz still owns this property. If not, we'll run a correction tomorrow. The listing says the home was built for Steve Wozniak. We had heard he had put his home on the market due to the impending move. We'll find out where that home is located and for sure this one has gotten some attention due to this posting. Thanks for the comments and for the correction.

I just emailed the Woz asking for comment! Stay tuned for more clarity on this. Thank you.

The Woz emailed us back with more details about his impending move to Australia. Will post another story on this tomorrow. Stay tuned. But Gail and Rene are right. He said in his email that he owned the property 10 years ago and sold it.

As I mentioned on my post to FB, the Wozniaks live on Blackberry Hill. Their home is not currently on the real estate market.

Hi Rene ... we're posting a story on this later today. Stay tuned! The Woz emailed me yesterday, but you're correct.

I wonder why it suddenly gained so much attention. The listing has always mentioned it was built for Woz. Nice bit of publicity for it though, maybe it will help get it sold for the current owners.
