New Los Gatos Office Building on Winchester Boulevard Complete

Two-story edifice will house Dermer Law upstairs and office, medical use downstairs.

Wondering about the new commercial building completed last November at the corner of Daves Avenue and Winchester Boulevard?

It was built by Ranger Construction for Dermer Law at 15720 Winchester Blvd.

For years the location was a rundown home with tarps on the roof and overgrown weeds, said project spokeswoman Lisa Tollner.

Now the property features a 15,510-square-foot Spanish Revival two-story structure with terra cotta patios, tile roof, graceful archways, and best of all, lots of parking.

The building owners are Martin and Joe Dermer. It will house their law offices in the upstairs space, according to Tollner.

The bottom floor is 8,140 square feet and would be ideal for office or medical uses, she said.

The project was lead by Santa Clara-based Ranger Construction CEO John Donovan, a longtime Los Gatos resident.

Donovan has been an active member of the community and has been coaching girls and boys basketball for Los Gatos Recreation and Fisher Middle School for the past 10 years, Tollner said.

In 1986, John and brother Michael relocated their families to Los Gatos from Boston, MA. Their father, John Donovan Sr., was a builder in the Boston area for more than 50 years.

Leasing details: Mike Miller, Colliers International, 408-282-3842.

A well designed first class looking building but I still miss the funky small one story house that still had some remains of bucolic orchard trees surrounding it. Despite the weeds and the tarped roof mentioned by the project manager it allowed for better views of our beautiful surrounding hills while waiting for the Daves traffic light to change to green, We need to be careful not to make this part of Los Gatos / Monte Sereno yet another slick office park despite the obvious high quality of such projects.

Love Dermer Law. Martin and Joe Dermer helped my parents with some advice and didn't even charge!

I love that the architect took into such careful consideration the history and aesthetic of Los Gatos when they designed this building. I realize this was a controversial project because of its height and view-blocking issues, but if new construction must happen in LG, its great to see the architect's design values so focused on "form" in addition to "function." This is a building that looks like it belongs to LG and will age gracefully. Nice work.
