Los Gatos Beauty Supply Opens at Former Domus Location

Store carries high-end skin-care, make-up and hair-care products.

A new beauty supply store has opened at one of the five suites that now make up the former Domus location at 40 No. Santa Cruz Avenue, suite B.

Los Gatos Beauty supply officially opened its doors Nov. 18 of last year, but it's just recently gaining more customer visits, said assistant manager Alyssa Robles.

The business carries your typical professional beauty supply products as well as accessories and jewelry. However, there's no hair salon inside.

"We have a lot of foot traffic," said Robles "We haven't done much advertising so it's just people walking by." "We're doing good. We have so many people stopping by and checking out the store."

The business, managed by Megan Heykants, also carries high-end skin-care lines such as Dermalogica, Murad and Perricone.

Top make-up lines include Jane-Iredale and Too Faced and top nail-polish brands are OPI, and Essie.

The store also features an impressive selection of hair appliances such as blow driers, flat irons and curling irons ranging from Hot Tools to Sedu Ionic and hair-care products such as Redken, Paul Mitchell, Pureology and Joico.

It's the only beauty supply on North Santa Cruz Avenue, so that's a good thing, Robles said. However, there are others in town.

My honest opinion is the store front is gaudy in the worst way and totally unbecoming for downtown los gatos.

But with three hair blow-dry bars and so many hair salons in town, don't you think their services are needed?

Between all the nail salons, blow out bars - what is this town trying to be? We have far too many already - so no, I don't think it was "needed". I think it's much more suited for the blvd rather than downtown. I'm just saying their store front is over the top and doesn't fit the town.

There are a lot of well heeled women and men in Los Gatos/Monte Sereno/Sartoga, good to have another beauty place in town.

We gave up DOMUS for a beauty supply store?? Seriously? I miss Domus so much I could cry. Couldn't it at least, have been an art gallery there?

I am interested in skin care for my high end. It has been a bit sore recently and probably needs something rubbed on it. I did rub some lard on it but the cat started looking at me a little differently.

Hey, When was the general vote to approve this business? Like we need more "beauty places" in town.

We have a beauty supply store in the Kings Court shopping center which is close enough for me. I guess it is nice to have a second location to choose from, but their front window display (or lack of) needs some upgrading.

I had so hoped we could have another sporting goods store. Templar Sports is great for fly fishing and guns, but we also need tennis, deep sea fishing, skiing, rafting, etc to complete our sports supply availability. Another beauty place to hold back old age seems a needless effort of futility..

My first and current response is "not another beauty, hair, nail place, and those purple neon lights and purple sign are just so "shopping mall." Our town is selling out at every opportunity. What a shame.
Eric January 29, 2013 at 07:28 PM
Peace, you hit the nail on the head. The store front screams "shopping mall".
Miranda January 29, 2013 at 08:36 PM
I agree. Los Gatos used to be so pretty and quaint. Such a relief from San Jose and surrounding areas. And it's not just the "strip mall" beauty supply store - look what Apple did to the old store front, "alien ship landed in historic downtown Los Gatos". People live in places like Carmel and Los Gatos to get away from ugly surroundings.
