Netflix Reports Nearly 38M Members

Announcement comes in shareholders' letter as part of company's second quarter financial results released Monday.

Netflix, Inc. has released its second-quarter 2013 financial results, which show the company has grown to nearly 30 million domestic members and 8 million international members.

The company, headquartered in town at 100 Winchester Circle, has posted its gains on its website, which indicate in this year's second quarter streaming revenue is up 26 percent domestically and 155 percent internationally over the prior year.

A letter to Netflix shareholders, signed by CEO Reed Hastings and CFO David Wells, invited them to watch a live video interview at youtube.com/netflixir at 3 p.m. Pacific Monday to learn more.

The company also said its first set of Netflix originals earned 14 Emmy Award nominations, including “House of Cards” for outstanding drama series.

This is the first time an Internet TV show has been nominated for top Emmy awards, company officials said.
