The club's business page says the business traces its roots to before 1972, bringing a variety of bands to town and being named after , the first white settler in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the 1800s, according to historical records.

Event promoter Barb Rocks posted on the page: "Check out my last show at Mountain Charley's, since sadly they are closing their doors at the end of this month. Great 70's revivalist rock-n-roll band Melted Horses will be playing a 2 hour set, followed by DJ dance music. Hope to see you all there!"

A club customer said: "I'm curious how the night scene is doing in LG since the closing of a few places. They seem to be changing hands, closing down or struggling."

Several calls and emails to the club weren't returned by the time of this posting.
