Mother's Day Destination: Testarossa Winery

This Los Gatos winery is planning a lovely afternoon for Mom, her family and friends.

This Sunday, May 8, 2011 is Mother’s Day, a time to let Mom slow down, kick back for a change and listen to her kids tell her how fabulous she is!

You’ll also want to treat her to something special that day, and has the perfect answer to a relaxed, lovely afternoon for Mom: wine, gourmet treats and live music.

Testarossa Winery founders Bob and Diana Jensen’s journey into wine-making started in their Sunnyvale kitchen where they made five gallons of Chardonnay. Fifteen years later, their Los Gatos winery, located in the beautiful 19th-century Novitiate Winery on College Avenue, produces more than 15,000 cases annually of world-class wines.

“This wine will be officially released on May 20,” Thomas said. “It has received 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, 91 points from Wine & Spirits & Connoisseurs’ Guide and 90 points from Wine Spectator.”

Other wines to be poured on Sunday include the winery’s 2010 Novitiate Pinot Noir Rosé, 2009 Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay, 2009 Sierra Madre Vineyard Chardonnay, 2009 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir and our 2008 Santa Cruz Mountains Meritage

Gourmet food samples will also be offered with the wine tastings. A spread worthy of the fine wines will be served by a variety of artisanal producers, including Fabrique Délices, who make award-winning charcuterie; Rustic Bakery providing their organic baked goods; Oregon Growers’ farm direct specialty foods such as jams, fruit patés and chutneys; and La Quercia, makers of hand-crafted cured meats. Charcuterie, baked goods, cheeses, chocolates and more—perfect nibbles to complement the wines.

The afternoon will be further enhanced by music provided by Firesign Entertainment, known for arranging musicians for many local events, including public, corporate and private occasions.

So treat Mom to a Mother’s Day where she can truly relax with fine wines, delicious treats, live music—and you!
