Are you walking or running the Great Race at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 28? We are! Whether you are looking for a great course for your best time, or a fun individual or family run, this is the event for you. The four-mile run takes you from downtown Saratoga, 14420 Big Basin Way, down Highway 9 through Monte Sereno and finishes on beautiful North Santa Cruz Avenue in scenic Los Gatos. The Bennewitz String Quartet, from Prague, will be playing Mozart, Quartet #17 in B-flat Major, K. 458, "The Hunt"; Bartok, String Quartet No. 3; and Schubert, Quartet #14 in D minor, D. 810, "Death and the Maiden" at 8 p.m. Friday, April 19 as part of St. Luke's Episcopal Church's Sunset Concert Series, 20 University Ave. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for senior and $10 for students. The Town of Los Gatos invites the community to the dedication of the newly renovated Pageant Grounds and the annual Arbor Day celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 110 E. Main Street. EVOLUTION OF GREEN: ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISM IN SANTA CLARA VALLEY
Evolution of Green is an exhibit sharing the stories of those individuals and groups whose experiences have shaped the evolving narrative of the valley's environmental story for the past 50 years 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and Friday and noon-4 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday through Sept. 1 at the History Museum of Los Gatos, 75 Church St. Details: 408-354-2646.
Sereno Group Los Gatos/Saratoga hosts a free e-waste collection event 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 21 at 214 Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd. Service provided by Metech Recycling, which will securely shred all data containing devices, so no one can access personal information.
