Los Gatos Meats & Smokehouse Earns Youth Friendly Award

The Los Gatos Youth Commission and Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce will recognize the business for its commitment to helping young people in town through employment, sponsorship of sports teams.

The Los Gatos Youth Commission and the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce have named the Youth Friendly Business of the Year.

, was honored because owners John and Brian Chiala provide employment opportunities for youth and support activities and events that help them.

A press release issued by the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department this week, which serves as a staff liaison to the Youth Commission, stated the business was also recognized for strongly supporting 's sports teams and making numerous donations to them as well as to nonprofit organizations that are youth oriented.

Los Gatos Meats & Smokehouse, 575 University Ave., will receive its award during the Los Gatos Town Council meeting at 7 p.m. June 4 at the Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St.

The business recognition program was launched two years ago to highlight companies that demonstrate they are youth friendly and recognize those that either hire youth, support youth activities and events, provide a service or product for youth or demonstrate respect and a welcoming environment for youth, the release said.
