Los Gatos Opens New Hair Blow-Dry Bar!

Blow-dry-only salon is located next to new tapas bar opening this fall at Los Gatos Shopping Center.

A new hair blow-dry-only bar called Drywalk has opened its doors to the public at the Los Gatos Shopping Center on North Santa Cruz Avenue.

The business, 422 No. Santa Cruz Ave., is located next to a that will be run by owners Michael Guerra and Joe Cannistraci. Its first day of business was July 12.

The salon is owned by sisters Susie Massoud and Mimi Qubain and follows the latest trend in the beauty business, which is helping women and men, sometimes, get that perfect mane without the hassle of having to do it yourself.

Customers can choose from a variety of blow-dry hair styles with names like "Strike A Pose," "Milan Frenzy" and New York Sleek, Massoud said.

The business will only be drying hair, meaning you won't be able to get a hair cut, a perm, color or highlights when you walk in.

Unlike traditional, full-service salons which require appointments, walk-ins will be welcomed. Customers are typically in and out in 45 minutes and all blowouts are $35, Massoud said.

"We shampoo, we condition and we style," Massoud said. "That's all included and all our stylists are licensed. They're artists and masters at styling hair. They straighten, curl ... our concept is 'we take hair from the sidewalk to the catwalk.' "

The bar will also offer memberships, multi-blow dry passes, gift cards and private parties. For children under 10, the business offers mini drywalks at $24.

“Drywalk is thrilled to bring the exclusive blow dry bar trend to Los Gatos and nearby communities,” Massoud said. “Whether you’re a power executive, busy mom or simply are a fan of professionally styled hair, having your hair done by a pro without the high cost or need to book well in advance is a great service that suits today’s hectic lifestyles.”

The sisters are eyeing another location in the Bay Area. The business is also planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the help of the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, Massoud said.

The salon will be opened 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Details: 408-884-8385.
