Los Gatos Tech Gurus Participate in C2SV

Festival of music and advanced ideas continues through Sunday, Sept. 29 at San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

Los Gatos residents Maynard Webb and Scott Schreiman will discuss reinventing work at the Creative Convergence Silicon Valley (C2SV) Conference at 1:30 p.m. today Friday, Sept. 27.

The technology conference takes place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, 150 West San Carlos St. Thursday Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 29.

In addition to workplace reinvention, the C2SV Technology Conference covers such topics as social media, mobile apps, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, self-driving cars, social transportation and self-driving cars.

Webb is a former vice president of Ebay and was recently appointed chairman of Yahoo, Inc. He is the author of Rebooting Work: Transform How You Work in the Age of Entrepreneurship.

Webb calls rebooting work “a change in mindset among workers and businesses.”

He says the workplace revolution instructs today’s workers that “what worked yesterday doesn’t work today. Rather than being afraid, people need to embrace change and take control.”

Schreiman is CEO of the San Jose-based Kerio Technologies, Inc. which recently introduced the Samepage.io service, a free suite of cloud-based collaboration tools. Schreiman will be leading the three person panel.

Also participating in the session is Jeremy Neuner, CEO of NextSpace and co-author of The Rise of the Naked Economy: How to Benefit from the Changing Workplace.

Neuner is a champion of freelancers and independent contractors who opt out of traditional work relationships.

"By abandoning the 9-5 grind and working on our own terms, people have the opportunity to meet their neighbors, coach their kid’s soccer team, attend a city council meeting, or volunteer in their communities," he says. "We need to re-build the tight-knit social fabric that holds our society together and the Naked Economy will allow us to do that."

A four-day music festival also is being produced as part of C2SV and will culminate with a concert in St. James Park Saturday, Sept. 28 with Iggy and the Stooges.

Tickets may be purchased at C2SV.com/tickets.
