Los Gatos Apple Store Readies For iPhone 5 Sale Friday Morning

Customers are expected to begin lining up outside North Santa Cruz Ave. location to purchase new smartphone when doors open at 8 a.m. Friday.

Update: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20: Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple computers and proud Los Gatos resident, tweeted at 10:50 a.m. that he was in line at an Apple Store location waiting to buy the much-anticipated iPhone 5.

His tweet: "In line for first iPhone 5's in the world! (@ Apple Store w/ 2 others) [pic]: http://4sq.com/Vh8kYS"

A Los Gatos Apple Store employee said the "Woz" is not one of the five customers who are already staking out their spot for the new hot release. Information under his tweeted photo said he's at the Chermside Apple Store, in Australia? Where's the "Woz?"

With its four-inch-long screen, less than four-ounce weight, and an offering of up to 225 hours of standby time, the new iPhone 5 is going to be a hit when it begins being sold at local Apple stores early Friday morning, including the one in Los Gatos at 23 North Santa Cruz Ave.

The likes of Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple computers and proud Los Gatos resident, could begin lining up after midnight tonight to buy the phone when doors open at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept 21, according to an Apple Store employee on Wednesday.

"There will be a few people lining up outside the store on Thursday," he said, adding that Apple's latest smartphone will cost $199 with an upgrade, which users can check at Apple.com to find out if they're eligible for.

"It's got a bigger screen, it's smaller and longer battery. I would get it," he said.

Where else can one purchase the new iPhone 5 in and around Los Gatos?

The Apple Store employee said it will be difficult to purchase the smartphone anywhere else unless it's been pre-ordered at AT&T and Verizon stores.

just don't use the new maps app to try finding the store. http://theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com/

Yes, that seems to be a drawback because, according to my geeky Apple fan husband, the app doesn't have public transit routes or Google’s Street View feature. The other problem is the new connector, which costs $29. Still, it's getting great reviews. If I had the money, I would buy one!

Isn't it crazy how well Apple has trained the public on product launches? Creating all this frenzy and long lines outside their stores? Great marketing which I can appreciate. But geezzzzzzz, have you ever heard of a line to buy an Android? Nope, keep it simple and expand your horizons. Plus, you could of had a bigger screen a long-time ago. ;-P

When's the new iPhone 6 coming out? LOL these releases are too close together. Didn't they just relase the iPhone4S?

I already pre-ordered my I Phone #5. It was time for me to upgrade & had a nice credit so I went for it! It should be in tomorrow's mail. Pretty Stoked about it! I do need to get a new Computer because my MAC is way too old. So looks like Friday wouldn't be a good day to go to Apple to check out MAC'S!

All the Apple addicts in LG better get their gluteus maximuses to the Apple retail store. Comp World says new orders won't ship for 3-4 weeks. Betting they sell out fast.

Forget the iPhone5, I'm getting the Galaxi S III, 4.8 inch screen, 790 hrs of standby time, almost 12 hours talk time, heavier but 2GB RAM. Freshly stolen technology :)
