Is the Los Gatos' The Indian Store closing?

A sign posted on its door this weekend said the business' closing sale will go on until April 14 and announces that its owner is hoping someone will buy the store and relocate it.

"We're here, ready to help you with your selections, special orders, repairs, gift wrapping," the sign says signed by Janice Benjamin, its owner.

The shop, 68 West Main St., has been in operation for more than 40 years. It opened in 1972.

It sells Native American designed items, including drums, baskets, books, music, masks, moccasins, pottery and figurines, the listing states.

There's no formal announcement on the store's website. However, Benjamin said Monday that she had posted an announcement about her business closing on Los Gatos Patch earlier this month.

The business moved from a 500-square-feet retail space at Old Town Center to its present location six years ago, according to the release.

Benjamin said the store's final day of operation will be April 14. "All of our options are open. We may be acquired. We may relocate, but it's nothing I can say for certain."
