Is a DSW Shoe Warehouse a Good Fit to Fill the Borders Location?

Tell us what you think in the comments below.

A DSW Shoe Warehouse is expected to fill the vacancy left by Borders Books, according to Christine Brainerd, spokesperson for the City of Elk Grove.

Tell us what you think of that in the comments below this story.

DSW describes itself as a “shoe shopping destination for style-conscious women and men who appreciate value.” The stores are typically much larger than your average shoe store, which is embodied here by the fact that the chain would choose a large storefront like the former Borders location.

Back when Borders closed, we asked you what you would like to see replace it. We received 41 comments ranging from Barnes & Noble to Dave & Busters. There was no mention, however, of DSW or any other shoe store for that matter.

With that said, some Elk Grove Online commenters appear to be pretty excited about the store’s possible arrival. Others are concered that the warehouse store will squeeze out Famous Footwear and Payless.

They should probably widen the parking spaces since so many more women will be shopping that center.

I think DSW is a great addition. The size of this shop is typical for most DSW's I've been in. Payless seems to do fine with Target caring shoes. I think its good health compitition.

I shop at DSW all the time, but online. It would be so very nice to have a store so close. Definitely better than an empty building.

I think a DSW would be awesome at that location. It has the best selection and prices for designer shoes and handbags. Women love that store! Target and Payless no way compare. Cannot wait for it to open!

I would drive any where to just go to dsw. Shoes from payless, target, etc do not compare. Put a norstroms rack around here as well and i won't leave the area to shop ever.
