Count on it being fancier than the other two stores in town and include everything that most similar stores have, such as a bakery, deli, meat department, seafood area, lots of beautifully decorated aisles, customer service center and even underground parking.

According to the store's website, the business will be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certified.

Safeway recently completed construction of its first LEED-certified project in Santa Cruz. Future stores will be built to similar standards, according to the site.

Other nearby Safeway stores are on Pollard Road, Winchester Boulevard and Budd Avenue and Hamilton Avenue.

Los Gatans have many fancy choices when it comes to buying groceries, including Lucky in nearby San Jose, on Blossom Hill Road and and on Los Gatos Boulevard.

The new Safeway conducted a job fair to hire its employees, according to workers on the site who didn't want to be identified.
