in the mid 60s, by the mid 1970's I think the waiting room adjacent to it closed along with the coffee shop that made the worst burgers in town. The best bergers were from the 2 drug stores, one on main and the other at main and Santa Cruz. Most everyone went to Mels, and A&W. Thats what happens in the name of progress. My grandparents owned a Spanish speaking movie house in the 50s in Decoto and we stopped in Los Gatos. We would flag the bus down on the old Oakland highway on the way to Santa Cruz.
Today, it makes no sense for someone in Los Gatos to catch a bus to Santa Cruz. We'd have to go all the way to Diridon Station in San Jose, which is either an hour out of the way by public transit (shuttle to town limits, which only runs 1x/hour on weekends by the way, then light rail to San Jose) or equally absurdly out of the way by car...in which case, after dropping you off at the station, both you and your ride have to sit in Southbound traffic to get back to your starting point in Los Gatos.
