Shakespeare Festival Fundraising Under Way

More than 90 supporters attend the festival's Spring Equinox Celebration to benefit the nonprofit organization's 2012 season.

With the upcoming this summer, The Mountain Winery teamed up with the nonprofit organization to raise money and get the word out on Sunday.

About 90 people attended the fundraiser, which included portions of Shakespeare plays, acted-out weapon fighting, dancing, music, a costume competition, raffles, renaissance-style jewelry and wine tasting. 

Bruce De Les Dernier, artistic director for the Festival Theatre Ensemble, gave a demonstration on Shakespearean hand-to-hand combat as well as a weapons show. 

The festival will run July 15 through Aug. 6 at in Los Gatos.

The organization largely depends on donations to rent costumes, equipment for combat scenes and lighting, and to refurbish the set. It is raising money for its 2012 season. To donate click here.
