Poem: Mason Babb's 'Where I’m From'

In honor of National Poetry Month, Raymond J. Fisher Middle School eighth-grader Mason Babb shared this poem he wrote with Los Gatos Patch. The poem was shared with the Los Gatos Town Council on April 2.

I am from my backyard, from swing sets, slides, green grass and lots of fun playing tag with my friends.

I am from the kitchen, from the scent of my dad’s famous meat loaf for dinner and the wonderful smell of his sausage gravy and biscuits in the morning.

I am from drum sets, from the crashing of the cymbals and the banging of the drums.

I am from Los Gatos, from the nice restaurants like Willow Street and Forbes Mill and the sun always shining almost as bright as the stars at night.

I am from my memories, from playing with my dog when I was little and playing in the backyard and skateboarding in the front yard today.
