Where I’m from

I am from my backyard,

From the trampoline, and the long stretch of green grass.

I am from the plum tree,

From the plum jam that’s smell would fill the house.

I am from the dog house, painted, yet vacant, though played on for years

I am from the pumpkin pie, and tuna noodle salad.

I am from the strawberries fought over by every child in the house

From the pies cookies, and cakes homemade special for each birthday.

I am from the drive in movies without cars,

from kids playing in the cul-de-sac.

I am from stitches from a short game of street hockey,

Though I am from memories that will be remembered for a lifetime.

I am from hide-and-go-seek,

With friends and family, all growing up together.

I am from my mother and my father,

From my brothers that torment me.

I am from camping trips with dad, and girl time with mom.

From older brothers that never seem to give me a break.

I am from a family that rarely takes pictures,

From a family that loves spending time together.

I am from Washington, from Pismo, from Los Gatos and from Tahoe.

I am from my memories,

From the teeter totter, and the Sit n’ Spin.

I am from the Christmas Eve visit to Chuck E. Cheese,

And from memories that will last a lifetime and beyond.
