Gadget-Addicted East Bay Family To Appear on Thursday's 'Steve Harvey' [VIDEO]

The Rainey clan go on a "tech diet" when Steve Harvey sends them to a remote cabin with no wi-fi!

Scott and Lynn Rainey, live in Lafayette with 8-year-old daughter, Macie, who wrote to talk show host Steve Harvey seeking help for her parents --  who Macie says are completely obsessed with technology.

“We live in the center of the technology universe,” says Scott Rainey, who works in print and digital advertising.

Scott admits that his work spills into his home life and that he is dependent on technology. “Guilty as charged,” he adds.

Macie’s mother, Lynn, says she spends about 10 to 12 hours a day on her various technological devices, and that the family has only ever been on a wi-fi- free vacation once – and that was for a trip out of the country!

The family will appear as guests on “Steve Harvey” on THURSDAY, MAY 22. on NBC Bay Area (KNTV) at 2 p.m.

Steve Harvey challenges the family to get rid of all of their technological devices (phones, laptops, iPads, etc) for an overnight trip to a remote cabin with no wi-fi!

They will have to use a paper map to find their way to the cabin (no GPS!) and once there, will have to rely on conversation and creativity to entertain themselves.

Will the family survive one night without their gadgets? Will they ultimately see the perks of being “unplugged”?

 Tune in to find out!
